Book 7 of Cowboys and Angels series
I have to admit, I was completely hesitant about reading this book for a review. Normally, I refuse to read a book that is part of a series without reading the rest of the series. I probably would’ve read the entire series before reading this book, but I wasn’t willing to shell out large sums of money for the six prior books just to write this review. After reading this book, I added the whole series to my Amazon wish list for my summer reading pleasures. If you are going to purchase this book, I do recommend getting the entire series. I did stumble a few times with the characters since the series follows the Parker clan–they are a large family! It took me a few chapters just to figure out who belongs with whom.
I do admit that I have moments where I love both main characters equally–that is sooo not true with this book. Scarlet is my favorite!! Trevor pissed me off a few too many times with how he treated Scarlet in the beginning chapters–grant it, he did redeem himself by the end, but not enough for me to love him equally as much as Scarlet.
Trevor and Scarlet’s mothers are best friends. The two of them have been playing together since they were young. Trevor has been he protector for just as long even promising to keep he safe at the ripe old age of eight. Scarlet’s parents shipped her off to boarding school for high school which separated a two for quite some time. Their chemistry never faded. That’s what brought Scarlet back to Trevor again and again even when she should have told him to hit the bricks.
Trevor comes to a realization on the same day that things change for Scarlet. She needs to make some major decisions about her life. In the process, she is told a family secret that helps her understand herself a bit better.
Blurb:
The first time I kissed Scarlet, I knew I was in trouble.
The night I slept with her, my life changed forever.
The day I found out I was going to be a father, I ran from her.
Now that I’ve been given a second chance I won’t be so reckless.
Will my love be enough to prove to her that even in the darkest times I won’t repeat the past?
