Book Review: Small Town Heart by Andrea Johnston
I have to begin with how much I love every Andrea Johnston novel. I don’t I’ve read a mediocre novel from her. I love everyone of them. I will admit this is not one of my favorites (Tequila and Tailgates will always be the top–Ashton is wickedly hilarious. If you haven’t read it–Do it!). I love how she intertwines the characters from her previous series with this one. Although, if you haven’t read the series, you can still fully understand these characters since they were minor characters in the series. The reader didn’t get a lot about Beth during her time at Country Road–although we do know who her hook-up is and why he wanted a long term relationship with her and not Beth. But Mercy tells us her version later in the book too. No one is in the dark about her previous life.
Mercy Elizabeth Warner is still trying to find her place in this world after working for Taylor at Country Road–a bar in Lexington, Kentucky. Beth as she went by in Lexington decided it was time for a change. It had nothing to do with the fact that her casual hook up decided he wanted a long term relationship–with someone else. She heads back to Texas to visit her momma for two weeks before heading for the bright lights of Austin. She grew up in a small town and hates everything about it. She loves everything about big city life. Until her car breaks down a few miles from a small town over two hours from Austin, luck is on her side. Sorda of
