Book Review: Desperately Seeking Roommate by Micalea Smeltzer

Review

I love Lou. I don’t know how many times my family looked at me weird for laughing so hard at her antics or the things that come out of her mouth. I love that Smeltzer creates a character who knows her value and doesn’t settle. My only critique is that Lou mentions her self doubt since she’s a plus size gal but she continually mentions her greatness and tries to bolster herself up. A few times, it deterred from the story arc. I get why those aspects are there–it’s Lou’s defense mechanism in order to remain positive and have a healthy mindset in a world of fat shamers and those who think women should be under a certain weight. Lou’s humor was what kept drawing me back. Don’t get me wrong, Abel is a total hottie and I wouldn’t kick him outta my bed. What makes this book different is how it focuses on her instead of their coupling or even his hotness which in the world of romance, his hotness is usually front and center.

I would like to know more about Miranda and the landlord’s little thing–is it just a fling or something more? Just a thought for my friend, Micalea. Inquiring minds want to know…after you write more Willow Creek spin offs for the kids. I’m still impatiently waiting for Cannon’s book from The Wild series. I have to add I don’t think I’ve read anything of Micalea’s that I didn’t love!!

WANTED: A ROOMMATE
Requirements
  1. Don’t be a smoker. That’s gross.
  2. Don’t be a jerk. I have no time to deal with your mood swings.
  3. Clean up after yourself. Is it really so hard to put dirty clothes where they belong?

If you meet these qualifications, call me.

Sincerely,
Desperately Seeking Roommate

When I put the ad in my university’s newspaper, the last thing I ever expect is for the star football player to respond.

From what I know of him, Abel Russo is a womanizer and an absolute jerk.

Sadly, he’s the only thing stopping me from being evicted by my annoyingly gleeful landlord.

It should be easy enough—there’s no chance we’ll fall for each other. But then he gives me lingering looks, and I might just be looking back.

All I wanted was a roommate, but I’m about to get so much more than I bargained for.unnamed (2)

Hi. I’m Micalea. Ma-call-e-uh. Weird name, I know. My mom must’ve known I was going to be odd even in the womb. I’ve written a lot of books. Like a lot. Don’t ask me how many, I don’t remember at this point. I have an unhealthy addiction to Diet Coke but I can’t seem to break the habit. I listen to way too much music and hedgehogs have taken over my life. Crazy is the word that best sums up my life, but it’s the good kind of crazy and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I love to read! I review books for contemporary fiction, young adult, and romance novels. I read the majority of my novels on my Kindle.
