Book Review: The Secrets to Dating My Best Friend’s Sister by Meghan Quinn

I loved this book so much that I read it in one sitting! That doesn’t happen often–yes, I did have a book hangover the next day from staying up half the night to read. I’m that kind of person. I mourned over finishing the book since I love Bram…not so much for Julia–a bit too closed off for me. But when I think about it, her aloofness makes sense. She is highly intelligent–one trait for logical thinkers is the lack of social cues and sometimes common sense. At least those are the traits, my gifted son has anyway. Many of her mannerisms reminded me of my kiddo–ok he’s not really a kid anymore since he’ll be graduating in the spring, but he will always be my chubby little baby even if he is six four and skinny as a board.

Anyway, onto my review. Bram was completely lovable in every way. He purposely lost a bet just so he can spend more time with Julia…oh and he also had to enroll in her dating company which required him to date other people when all he really wanted was Julia. The large majority of the comedy stemmed from Bram and the lengths he went to in order to show Julia how he felt about her. It’s something every girl wishes her man would do for her.

But nothing was smooth sailing for either him nor Julia. Big bro stepped in…but he didn’t respond as expected. That was shocking and hilarious at the same time. After reading about Bram’s circle of friends, I can see spin off books for them too especially Roark McCool and Rath Westin, Julia’s older brother.

I would tell you more because I love this book so much!! I don’t want to give away too many plot points and spoil the book for you. I highly recommend this book!

How do you date your best friend’s sister? Easy.

Step one: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer.

Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend’s sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.

Step three: Randomly show up at her apartment and confess your love. Women love that, right?

It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.

At least–that’s what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She’s smart–really smart–and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I’ve tried slinging her way. She’s not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. She might want me too; but she’s not giving in that easy…
